Traveling to Vienna

Whether by plane or by train, by car or by ship on the Danube – many paths lead to Vienna. And Vienna is easily to reach. A lot of international Airlines, also budget airlines offers connection to Vienna or Bratislava. Or take one of the bus connections from all directions. On this page we will have some tipps how you can reach Vienna in Austria.

By road (car or bus)

As tolls are compulsory on all motorways and expressways in Austria, you will also need a vignette to use Vienna's city motorways. You can find detailed information on the toll charges here. Google Maps will help you find the best way to Vienna.

With Flixbus or Regiojet you can get great deals on bus-routes from all directions.

By plane

Vienna's central position in Europe makes it a hub offering optimal transportation connections to the whole world. 205 destinations across 71 countries are regularly served from Vienna International Airport by 74 airlines. Austrian offers a lot of connections within the Lufthansa network. You could reach Vienna also with low-cost airlines like easyJet, Wizz or Laudamotion (Ryanair).

If you find a better connection to Bratislava Airport you could go there. Its less than one hour to Vienna and direct connection by busses are offered.


By train

The train is a comfortable way to travel to Vienna. ÖBB (Austrian Federal Railways), the Westbahn and Regiojet are aimed at individual travel needs. High speed trains of ÖBB (Railjet) or Deutsche Bahn (ICE) offers fast and often cheap connections to Vienna. With Regiojet you can come from Czech Republic.
